From starting the Lee Barta Community Center to the various memorials held in his name, it's clear that Lee was more than just a dedicated officer. He was someone who truly mattered to the people he served and friends and family who loved him deeply. Hearing stories about him from those who worked alongside him in the Binghamton Police Department or Broome County Sheriff's Office are incredibly touching. It just goes to show how the bonds within a community, and especially within law enforcement, can provide strength and solace in the aftermath of such a tragic event. Lee’s story is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by officers every day, and the ongoing support their families need. His children were so young at the time—you can't help but hope that they've grown up knowing how much their father was cherished by everyone who knew him.
