Dedrick Coleman, a 20-year-old man from Houston, Texas, was tragically shot and killed on October 23, 2015. Coleman was the father of a two-year-old boy and was walking home from a neighborhood store when he was attacked. The assailant, Willie Robert Scott, shot Coleman during a robbery, taking his money and cell phone.

He had already been serving a 60-year sentence for the rape charges, which will run concurrently with the murder sentence. This means Scott must serve at least half of the sentence before he is eligible for parole. The Coleman family finally received some closure with Scott's conviction and sentencing.
