It’s so frustrating to hear about a case like Keisha Parker’s. The ripple effect of such senseless violence is enormous. I can’t stop thinking about her friends and family having to endure not only the tragedy of losing her but also her unborn child. Imagine getting that call in the middle of the night, learning that someone so full of life and future plans was taken away just like that.
I’m also left wondering how someone like Marques Porch, who served as a corrections officer, got wrapped up in all this. What leads a person in a position of authority to become involved in something so horrific? It doesn’t make sense to me how easily these firearms were turned on an innocent person, and it raises so many questions about gun access and control.
Sending thoughts and strength to Keisha’s loved ones, and hoping justice is served swiftly and rightly. No community should have to constantly live in fear of violence like this.
Just been thinking a lot about Keisha Parker's case lately. It's just devastating how an innocent life was taken in such a cruel, senseless way. I'm especially struck by the fact that Marques Porch was someone who was supposed to uphold the law, given his background as a corrections officer. How does someone like that end up involved in something so horrific? It makes me wonder if there were any red flags that were overlooked or if there was something in his past that led him down this path. It’s hard not to think about how Keisha and her baby had their futures stolen over what appears to be a case of mistaken identity and senseless violence. She was just there to give people a ride, and it cost her everything. My heart goes out to her family and the entire Baton Rouge community dealing with another painful loss.
Hi everyone,
I've been following Keisha Parker's case, and something that's been really weighing on my mind is how easily firearms end up in the hands of those who shouldn't have them in the first place. It’s so distressing to think about how Marques Porch, who was supposed to be someone enforcing the law, somehow became involved in facilitating this horrific crime.
As a member of the community, this makes me question the oversight systems within law enforcement agencies. How do we ensure that those who are meant to protect us aren't contributing to the dangers in our neighborhoods? Keisha's tragic death should prompt serious discussions and actions toward stricter gun regulations and better screening processes within our police forces.
Keisha and her baby deserved so much more, and my heart truly goes out to her family and friends. I hope they find strength and support from the community during this unimaginably difficult time. Is anyone else thinking about attending any of the candlelight vigils or memorial events to show solidarity?
Stay safe, everyone.
