A 36-year-old pregnant woman, Keisha Johnson, tragically lost her life, along with her unborn child, in a shooting on a Sunday night in April 2023 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She had been at a party on North Carrollton Avenue and was in the process of picking someone up when the fatal incident occurred. Authorities believe that Johnson was not the intended target of the gunmen.
It is thought that she was tragically mistaken for another individual who had been firing a gun into the air near the party.
In connection with the deaths of Johnson and her unborn child, three 19-year-old men were arrested. The suspects were identified as Marques Porch, Gregory Parker, and Derrick Curry. All three were subsequently charged with second-degree murder and first-degree feticide. The investigation revealed that one of the suspects, Marques Porch, had a connection to law enforcement. He had been employed by the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office as a full-time jail corrections deputy from June 2022 to November 2022. He later returned to a part-time position in jail transportation in February 2023. Following his arrest in the shooting, his employment with the sheriff's office was terminated.
