Does anyone else find it concerning how this particular location was under scrutiny for a while before the tragedy occurred? It’s so upsetting knowing that the house where Herbert Thomas Jr. lost his life was already on the authorities' radar. How could a place with such a history of chaos and reckless gatherings still be allowed to operate like this? With the nuisance abatement proceedings taking place and the looming foreclosure, one would think preventative measures could have been put into place to avoid this catastrophe. My heart goes out to Herbert's family, knowing their loved one was taken from them in a situation that might have been avoidable. What more can communities do to ensure that these dangerous environments are shut down before such irreversible damage occurs?
Does anyone else find it alarming that the police had been called to this house multiple times just in the week before the shooting? It just makes me wonder what could have been done differently to prevent such a tragic end for Herbert and the others involved.
