Has anyone else been thinking about how the case against Niam Dorvil highlights the flaws in the system regarding mental health support? While what he did was absolutely atrocious, it seems like this could’ve potentially been avoided if there was a safety net for those wrestling with such deep-seated anger and dissatisfaction with life. Jonathan Olds and his family deserve justice, and my heart goes out to them in this unimaginable time. But I can't stop thinking about how incidents like this might be preventable. I’m not trying to make excuses for Dorvil, but rather wondering what could be done to prevent future tragedies. Thoughts?
Has anyone else been thinking about the role the El Dorado bar played in all this? I can't help but wonder about the safety precautions in place that night. Was there anything that could have been done differently by the bar to prevent this tragedy from occurring, especially with such a large crowd present? It's incredibly painful to think about Jonathan Olds' family and what they must have gone through. No one should have to deal with the loss of a loved one under such horrendous circumstances. I just hope that this terrible incident serves as a wake-up call for establishments to prioritize safety and take proactive measures to protect patrons in the future. If anyone has thoughts or similar experiences, I'd love to hear them. Also, sending support to the Olds family and the entire community of Schenectady.
I've been reading through everything about Jonathan Olds’ case, and one thing that really gets to me is the lack of motive behind the shooting. It's beyond difficult to come to terms with the idea that a young life was cut short just because someone felt generally dissatisfied and angry. From what I've gathered, Olds seemed like he had so much potential and was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
It makes you wonder how many other people were affected that night—everyone in that crowd must have been terrified and are likely dealing with the trauma of losing a friend so abruptly. I truly feel for Jonathan’s family and friends, who have to carry the pain of this senseless tragedy every day. It’s a chilling reminder of how vital it is to address underlying issues like anger and frustration before they manifest into something this devastating.
I hope that, over time, the community can find healing and that Jonathan’s memory continues to inspire acts of kindness and change, despite the darkness of this event.
