Has anyone looked into the possibility that Opal Fulks might have been using an alias or changed her identity after she disappeared? I've read about cases where women in similar situations back then changed their names and started fresh somewhere new, especially if they felt trapped or were in difficult circumstances. Considering her family still listed her as alive well into the 1950s, maybe there's a chance she started over under a different name. It’s a long shot, but with no leads coming from the 2019 reopening of her case, exploring this angle could be worth it. Would be interesting to dig into records from nearby towns or cities during that era to see if anything stands out. Curious to hear what others think!

Has anyone else noticed how strange it is that Opal's parents still mentioned her as alive in their obituaries from the 1950s? It's been bugging me. Normally, if a person vanished for that long, especially in those days, folks would assume the worst, right? But they seemed to consider her out there somewhere. Could it have been wishful thinking, or did they know something that didn't make it to the public? It just seems odd to keep that up unless there was some glimmer of hope or info we don’t know about. Anyone else find that curious?
