Just came across Robert Echeverria's story, and it's incredibly upsetting to think about the pain he must have been going through. What struck me was how his family apparently tried to warn the NYPD about his struggles, yet he was still cleared for duty. It makes you wonder how such warnings could be overlooked—or if they're truly being taken seriously. The fact that his sister, Eileen, felt the need to speak out publicly says a lot about how desperate she must have felt. It’s beyond just a personal tragedy; it's an alarm for systemic change. I hope his story prompts the NYPD and similar institutions to really rethink how they handle mental health among their ranks. We owe it to officers like Robert.
