I came across an interesting point while reading about Kurtis's disappearance. It's baffling how, in an age where maritime laws exist, there seemed to be very little follow-up on safety protocols aboard these fishing processors. Given the treacherous conditions in the Bering Sea, shouldn’t there have been stricter measures to ensure crew safety and accountability? It seems like the only thing people talk about is Kurtis going missing, but what about the conditions and regulations onboard the Yardam Knot? I can’t help but wonder if there were any previous incidents on this vessel that might shed light on what happened to Kurtis. Does anyone have info on the Yardam Knot’s history or similar cases in that region?

I was doing some digging into cases involving disappearances at sea and came across Kurtis' story. Being from a family of fishermen, I can't imagine the fear and uncertainty his crew must have experienced when he went missing. The Bering Sea is notorious for its unpredictable weather and harsh conditions, which makes his case all the more concerning. I wonder if there were any unusual circumstances on the Yardam Knot that day or if anyone noticed anything out of the ordinary before Kurtis vanished. It's a chilling reminder of how quickly things can take a turn out there. Does anyone know if there were further investigations or any efforts made to improve safety measures on these fishing vessels after incidents like this?
