Hey everyone,
I've been following the case of Augustin Santiago, and something that really stands out to me is the location where it happened. That Marcy Avenue J-M-Z subway area is usually busy, especially around 5:50 PM when people are either leaving work or running errands. It’s concerning that a shooting could take place in such a public area with so many potential witnesses around. I read that last December was a particularly violent month in NYC, which makes you think about the level of safety in places we consider routine parts of our daily lives.
I wonder if there were any surveillance cameras that caught the incident, given the high foot traffic and presence of businesses nearby. It’s disheartening to see how gun violence affects communities and families. My heart goes out to Augustin’s family; losing a loved one this way is an unimaginable tragedy. It also makes me think about all the residents who now feel uneasy in their neighborhood, knowing this kind of violence can erupt so suddenly.
I hope the ongoing investigation by the NYPD will bring more clarity and justice to the situation. If anyone has updates or thoughts on the area and its safety measures, I'd be interested to hear them.
Stay safe, everyone.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the neighborhood around the Marcy Avenue subway station, and it’s devastating how quickly life can change in a familiar place. Many of us pass through there daily, without much thought, yet on December 9, it became a tragic scene. It’s a painful reminder of the reality many face every day with the ongoing gun violence in our city. While the details about Augustin Santiago's past have emerged, let's not forget that someone lost their life and a family lost a loved one. It’s easy to get caught up in the criminal records and accusations, but every person is more than just their history. Sending thoughts to anyone affected by this tragedy and hoping that communities can come together to prevent things like this from happening again. If anyone here lives near that area or has more insight into what can be done to make it safer, your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
