Does anyone else find it strange that no distress signals were picked up from Vernon Nash and Jess Gilbert’s boat? It’s 1985, so I know the technology wasn't what we have today, but still. I'd expect there to have been at least some kind of emergency call or flare, especially if they were experienced enough to undertake a shark fishing trip. I’ve read in other missing persons cases that even old equipment could get a signal out sometimes. Were they known to be cautious or maybe a bit more lax with safety protocols? Anyone have more insight into the boat itself or any equipment they possibly could have taken with them?
