Has anyone else noticed the lack of security measures in the building where Darius was killed? I’m just thinking about how crucial it could have been to have functional cameras around the stairway and entrances. In many cases, surveillance footage has been pivotal in providing leads and even quick resolution to crimes. It’s really upsetting to think that something like this might have been preventable with the right precautions in place. My heart goes out to Darius’s family and friends—no one should have to go through this. Hoping the community can come together to push for more safety measures moving forward, not just for justice in his case but to prevent this from happening to anyone else.

Hey everyone, I've been following the heartbreaking case of Darius Roache, the 17-year-old who was shot in his apartment building in Flatbush. It is so incredibly sad to see another young life lost so senselessly. I've been thinking a lot about the lack of camera surveillance in the area. I know it's not a solution to gun violence, but it would seriously help with gathering critical evidence in such cases. Does anyone know if the apartment building at 2201 Caton Avenue had any surveillance cameras? I remember reading somewhere that the NYPD often relies on footage from nearby businesses when they're trying to piece together what happened in incidents like this. If there were cameras, it would be so helpful to the investigation, and if not, maybe this tragic event will be the push needed to install them. It's so important for the community to feel safe and for evidence to be easily obtainable. Sending love to Darius's family; they deserve justice and peace. Let's hope someone comes forward with information soon. Stay safe, everyone.
