I've been following the case of Ramel Keith Baker for a while, and something that's been on my mind is the role of community in these situations. It must have been terrifying for the people living near the Welcome Inn on Loch Bend Drive that night. I can't help but think about the residents who may have witnessed or heard the incident. It's such a tough position to be in—wanting to ensure justice for someone who lost their life, while also having to process that trauma and fear right in their community. The fact that the shooters were just young men, carrying out such a brutal act over what authorities believe was an ongoing dispute, really stops me in my tracks. It's a tragic reminder of how quickly disputes can escalate to violence. I hope this case encourages more community resources and support systems to prevent similar tragedies in the future. My thoughts are with Ramel's loved ones, and all those affected by this senseless violence.
