I’ve been following the Zelma Anderson case for a while now, and the thing that gets to me is the discovery of her remains in such a secluded strip mine near McDowell. It seems like whoever did this knew the area well enough to pick a spot that wouldn't be stumbled upon for months. It's truly unsettling to think about how isolated the location is—it’s almost like someone wanted her to disappear entirely.
Orkney and McDowell aren't exactly bustling with people, especially back in the early 80s, so finding her out there is haunting. I'm hoping that someone who lived nearby back then might remember something unusual or might have seen someone they didn’t recognize hanging around. It’s been over 40 years, but someone has to know something. How can a person just vanish, and their case be left in the shadows for so long?
My heart goes out to her loved ones who’ve been waiting for justice all these years. I hope that by keeping the conversation going, we can bring some fresh eyes and possibly new leads to this cold case. If anyone out there knows anything, no matter how small it might seem, please come forward. Zelma deserves answers, and so do those she left behind.

I’ve been following the Zelma Anderson case for a while now, and there's one detail that keeps popping up in my mind. The location where her remains were found—the abandoned strip mine near McDowell—has always struck me as particularly eerie and telling. It's not the kind of place someone just stumbles across by accident; it feels deliberate. It makes me wonder whether the person responsible knew the area well, or even had some sort of connection to it.
The remoteness of the mine also implies that whoever took Zelma there didn’t want her to be found anytime soon. This feels like a crime that involved some planning, or at least an understanding of how to keep things hidden for a while. I hope investigators are looking into people with ties to that area during that time period.
It’s tough to imagine the pain her family has gone through, not only losing her but also dealing with so many unanswered questions for all these years. I strongly believe that someone knows something that could finally bring answers and justice for Zelma. Come forward if you do; her family has waited long enough.
