I've been thinking a lot about the role of school resource officers after what happened at Great Mills High School. It's such a complex issue, but from what I've read, Deputy Blaine Gaskill's quick response saved lives that day. I'm devastated for Jaelynn's family, but I'm also grateful that Deputy Gaskill was there and acted so swiftly. It’s hard not to wonder how different things would have been without his presence. I believe schools need this kind of rapid response capability, but we also need to address the deeper issues, like mental health and access to firearms. How do we best protect our kids and prevent these tragedies from happening? My heart goes out to everyone involved, especially Jaelynn’s family and friends.

Hey everyone, I was thinking about the role of the school resource officer, Deputy First Class Blaine Gaskill, in the tragic case of Jaelynn Willey. It's often overlooked, but his quick response probably prevented an even more devastating outcome that day. It must have been an incredibly intense and stressful situation for him to face, knowing that lives depended on how quickly he acted. It's easy to point fingers or debate about gun control and safety protocols, but I think we sometimes forget to acknowledge the individuals in these roles who put their lives on the line. Deputy Gaskill's actions remind us that every second counts in such critical situations. It’s just a shame that he couldn't get there in time to save Jaelynn. My heart goes out to her family and friends and everyone affected by this tragedy. It’s a stark reminder of how quickly things can change and the importance of being prepared. What are your thoughts on the presence of resource officers in schools? Do you feel that it makes a significant difference in preventing or mitigating such incidents, or are there more effective approaches we should consider?
