Just came across this case, and my heart goes out to Detrell Garvin's family and friends. I can't even begin to imagine the pain they're going through. It’s terrifying to think about violence happening so close to a school—kids should never have to experience or even witness something so traumatic. I keep wondering if anything had been going on in the neighborhood that might have led up to this? Maybe tension between groups or any suspicious activities reported beforehand? It’s alarming because these incidents seem to keep happening, and every life lost leaves such an impact. I truly hope the community finds healing, and I really wish more people would come forward with information. Silence only lets these tragedies repeat. Holding out hope for justice and some measures to turn things around in Baltimore.
Has anyone else come across information about the tragic shooting near Patapsco Elementary Middle School back in February 2020, specifically about the lack of arrests? It’s been on my mind a lot recently. It’s deeply unsettling to think that Detrell Garvin’s family still hasn’t received the closure they deserve. I can't imagine the pain of not having answers or justice for a loved one.
Baltimore has such a vibrant community, but this ongoing violence is tearing it apart. The statistics alone are alarming, but when you hear the personal stories, it really hits home. I wonder if the community has organized any vigils or awareness campaigns to remember the victims and push for action against this rise in gun violence?
If anyone knows of local initiatives or ways to help, it would be great to hear about them. We need to come together as a community to not only remember Detrell and the other victim but to also ensure there’s pressure to make our neighborhoods safer.
