Hey everyone, I've been following Melvin Thompson's case, and something has been weighing heavily on my mind. It's this whole issue with Baltimore's 911 system on the night he was shot. It's just so upsetting to think about the possibility that if the response had been quicker, maybe things could have turned out differently. Several witnesses mentioned they struggled to get through to emergency services. I can't even begin to imagine the frustration and fear they felt at that moment. I understand that Chief Niles Ford has mentioned that the call was dispatched quickly, but those initial hold-ups in reaching help are still concerning. It makes me think about how crucial every second is in emergencies, and how a system that's supposed to be reliable might sometimes falter. I hope the city takes a hard look at this and ensures improvements are made, so no other family has to deal with a similar delay. My heart goes out to Melvin’s loved ones—it's hard enough to cope with such a loss without worrying about whether help could have arrived sooner.
