I just read about the tragic case of Grace Elaine Jackson and it's really chilling to think about how she must have felt in those last moments. As a community, we need to seriously question how someone in her situation couldn't get the protection she needed despite clearly reaching out for help. The fact that she had just taken out a peace order against Leon Hill is a stark reminder of how the system sometimes fails those in immediate danger. It makes me wonder if there were any missed opportunities to intervene sooner. My heart goes out to Grace’s family and friends as they navigate such an unimaginable loss. I hope this case brings more awareness to the dire need for better support mechanisms for victims of harassment and domestic violence.
