Has anyone else read about the memorial dedication for Trooper Mark H. Coates? I recently came across some articles about the portion of I-95 in Jasper County being named in his honor. It’s so touching to see the community come together to remember him. It must be comforting, in some small way, for his family to know that his bravery and service are being recognized in such a public manner. Memorials like this are crucial for keeping the memory of these fallen officers alive. Every time someone drives past that stretch of highway, they’ll remember the sacrifice Trooper Coates made. Does anybody have more details about the dedication ceremony or have you attended something similar? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I’ve been reading about the dedication of a section of Interstate 95 to Trooper Mark Hunter Coates, and it’s both sobering and inspiring. Naming that stretch of highway after him seems like a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated his life to serving his community and keeping our roads safe. It's something tangible that keeps his memory alive every day for those who travel that route. It's heartbreaking to think about how quickly things can turn tragic for those who protect us. I can't imagine the depth of loss his family still feels. Being reminded of the risks these officers face daily really makes me appreciate those in law enforcement more. For someone who served his country as a Marine and then continued to protect and serve as a trooper, this dedication underscores just how significant his sacrifice was. Does anyone know if there are any annual remembrances or ceremonies held there to honor his memory? It's touching to see such support from the community, and I think these acts of remembrance are so important in honoring their sacrifices.
