I came across Ashton's story and it really hit me how much of a role model he was to his peers at Hillcrest High. From what I gathered, he was more than just an athlete - he was someone with a genuine heart, who connected with many people. It’s just so tragic to think that he had so many opportunities ahead cut short, especially on what should have been a day of celebration for him. It’s also incredibly hard for his teammates and fellow students to make sense of such a loss when he was such a vibrant part of their lives. I hope that his teammates and school community find ways to honor his memory and keep his spirit alive in the school. Losing young lives in such a senseless manner is devastating, but I hope it brings more awareness to preventing these tragedies in the future. Sending love and strength to everyone affected by this terrible loss. ?
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share some thoughts about Ashton Arnold's case, especially as the anniversary of that terrible day is coming up again. I've been thinking a lot about how his friends and teammates at Hillcrest High must have felt and still feel. By all accounts, Ashton was an incredible athlete and a good friend. It's devastating to imagine the loss they experienced and how it changed the fabric of their senior year.
A lot of us often wonder about the "what ifs"—what if someone noticed signs at home or what if Ashton had the chance to escape that environment? It's infuriating that such an innocent life was taken, especially on a day meant for celebration. I can't help but feel for his classmates, who probably think about Ashton's laugh or his moves on the court every time they step into the gym.
If there’s anyone here from that team or school, I'd love to hear how you've all been keeping Ashton's memory alive. We've seen from other cases how communities sometimes set up scholarships or tournaments in memory of lost friends. Let’s keep talking about the things we can do to prevent another tragedy. Ashton and his mom deserved better, and it’s up to us to keep pushing for changes.
Stay strong, everyone.
