The news about Jontae DeCosta’s passing really hit home for me. I’ve been thinking a lot about his family and how they must be feeling during this unimaginably difficult time. It’s just so devastating that such a promising young life could be cut short in this way. I grew up in a neighborhood not too far from where this tragic incident occurred, and it's tough to see that the problem of youth violence is still so prevalent. I wonder how the community will come together now. There are definitely more discussions happening around town about how we can support our youth better and prevent these senseless acts of violence. I attended another service at the Greater Refuge Temple once, and I remember feeling embraced by the warmth and strength of that community. I hope they can offer some comfort to Jontae’s family and friends right now. It’s crucial that we learn from these tragedies and work towards change. Sending love and strength to all who knew him. ?
