I’ve been thinking a lot about Darlene's tendency to trust people. It's such a beautiful trait in the right company, but it makes me wonder if it ended up putting her in harm's way. Trust was at the heart of who she was, making it even more tragic that someone might have taken advantage of that. When I think of Darlene leaving to hitchhike, believing in the goodness of people, my heart aches for her and her family. It must be so distressing for her family to know she stepped out into the world with such openness. I really hope that if anyone knows something—anything—they come forward, even if it seems insignificant. Darlene deserves justice, and her family deserves answers.
