The owner of this cabin later informed authorities that Shanna had simply 'walked away' from the property at some point on June 4th.
The alarm was not raised for several days. The friend Shanna had been visiting was supposed to give her a ride back to her home in Eagle River. When she didn't show up, he initially assumed she had found another way to get home. It was only after Shanna's roommate from Eagle River called to say she had never arrived that her friend realized something was wrong and reported her missing on June 9th.
