Wesley departed Kenai on the morning of 12-03-1994 piloting a 1965 Cessna 206, blue and white in color with tail #N5282U. He was the sole occupant and was transporting mail and freight from Kenai to Homer. A radar reading indicated that the missing plane was flying the coastline between Kenai and Homer and a last point or radar contact was south of Ninilchik and approximately 2 miles offshore.
