In the early morning hours of August 26, 2011, a 43-year-old man named Moses Alec Kosbruk, Jr. vanished from the fishing vessel Antoinette Renae near Dillingham, Alaska. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a gray t-shirt, orange rain pants, and brown Xtratuf rain boots in a size 9. Authorities were notified of the situation, and the Alaska State Troopers opened an investigation into his disappearance. The circumstances surrounding his last moments remain unclear, though it is believed he may have fallen overboard into the water. Moses was an American Indian / Alaska Native man with black hair and brown eyes. The official report of his disappearance was filed on the same day he was last seen, and the case was assigned the agency number 110085371 by the Alaska State Troopers. Years later, on March 17, 2020, a profile for Moses was created in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as case number MP67251, in an effort to bring renewed attention to his case and hopefully generate new leads. Despite these efforts, his case has remained unsolved for over a decade, leaving his family and community with unanswered questions. The disappearance of Moses Kosbruk, Jr. is a somber reminder of the dangers faced by those who work in Alaska's fishing industry. The vast and often treacherous waters of the region can be unforgiving, and accidents can happen in an instant. The investigation into what happened to Moses continues, with the hope that one day, answers will be found and his loved ones can find some measure of peace. The case is a poignant example of the many individuals who go missing each year, leaving behind a void in the lives of those who knew them.
