On May 22, 2024, 60-year-old Joshua Green, a male from Alaska, found himself in a dire situation in Aialik Bay. He, along with his son Caleb Green, his nephew Hayden Green, and Melanie Porter, were on a 21-foot vessel that began taking on water. The group had departed from Seward the previous day but encountered poor sea conditions and weather, which prevented their return.
