On **May 22, 2024**, at approximately **1:35 p.m.**, the U.S. Coast Guard notified Alaska State Troopers that a **22-foot Hewes Craft** vessel had capsized in Aialik Bay, near Seward, Alaska. The boat had departed Seward on **May 21**, but deteriorating sea conditions prevented its safe return.
