On that day, he was last seen on surveillance footage shopping at a Big Lots store on North Cleveland Avenue around 6:45 p.m. He was wearing khaki shorts and a two-tone long-sleeved shirt in orange and black. Following this sighting, he vanished without a trace.
Albert’s disappearance was reported by a close friend on January 19, 2020, after four days of no contact, which was highly unusual for him. His home was found unlocked with his belongings, including his phone, left behind. His car was found a few days later in Cape Coral, driven by an 18-year-old woman named Tiffany Contestabile, who had been a beneficiary of Albert's assistance. Contestabile claimed to have been looking for Albert, but she became a person of interest in his case.
Albert was known for his kindness and regularly helped those in need, including Contestabile and her mother, whom he had housed in a trailer.
