Michael Miller, a 22-year-old student from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), was last seen on October 23, 1983, during a hike on Mount Lafayette in Franconia, New Hampshire. He and his friends had begun the hike late in the afternoon, and while ascending the Old Bridle Path Trail, Miller decided to walk ahead, telling his friends, "Meet me at the top of the mountain."
