In the winter of 1996, a young man named Robert Preston Foster vanished from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions. He was 24 years old when he was last seen on January 25th of that year. On that day, Robert had reportedly dropped his girlfriend off at her job before heading to a friend's house to discuss the purchase of a vehicle. According to reports, an altercation occurred between Robert and his friend, after which Robert was said to have left the residence on foot. His parting words were a message for his girlfriend: "If Jennifer calls tell her I went to Bricktown to make a call." This was the last time anyone has reported seeing or hearing from Robert. The days turned into weeks, and with no word from Robert, concern began to grow. It wasn't until February 8, 1996, that a missing persons report was officially filed with the Oklahoma City Police Department. The report was initiated after Robert's girlfriend contacted his parents, Bud and Patsy Foster, to obtain his social security number for the filing, which is when they tragically learned their only child was missing. When questioned about the delay in reporting his disappearance, his girlfriend stated that she believed he was "just off playing" and would eventually come home. Adding to the mystery, the clothing Robert was wearing on the day he disappeared was discovered inside the vehicle he had left at his friend's home. The investigation into Robert's disappearance has been fraught with troubling theories and a lack of concrete evidence. One theory suggests that Robert may have been harmed and his body placed in the trunk of the car he was driving, a vehicle that was never searched. This theory gained some traction when an informant later claimed that Robert had been shot and put into the trunk of a car. Despite these leads, the case grew cold. Robert's mother, before her passing, worked tirelessly to find answers, reaching out to senators, news organizations, and the Oklahoma County District Attorney, all to no avail. Both of Robert's parents have since passed away without ever learning the fate of their son. The case of Robert Preston Foster remains an active missing person investigation, a painful reminder of a life interrupted and a family's long search for closure.
