Mohammad Shirazi, a 48-year-old resident of West Hills, California, was reported missing on May 1, 2008. Shirazi's disappearance became the focus of a deeper investigation after his father returned from a trip to Iran and could not locate Mohammad. The house, which had been left under the care of Mohammad and his brother Hossein Shirazi, showed signs of foul play, with biological evidence (blood) discovered in the living room rug and furniture.
This led investigators to treat the case as a homicide, despite the absence of a body.
Hossein Shirazi, Mohammad's brother, was later arrested and charged with his murder. Authorities believe the brothers had an ongoing dispute, and Hossein was held on $1 million bail. Although Mohammad's remains have never been found, law enforcement proceeded with the case based on the evidence collected.
