Shannon Rippy VanNewkirk, 53, was last seen on April 5, 2014, at The Husk, a bar in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. She had just gotten a haircut and spray tan in preparation for her birthday, which was the next day. When she did not attend the planned birthday lunch, her family grew concerned and reported her missing. Her belongings were left untouched, and her car was still parked at her home, indicating that she did not intend to leave for an extended period.
