On a late September day in 2017, a 51-year-old man named Krishna Moonsammy disappeared from his neighborhood in the Bronx, New York. The last time he was seen was on September 30th of that year. Mr. Moonsammy, a Black / African American male standing at 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds, was a familiar face in his community. On the day he went missing, he was dressed in light blue scrubs, both a shirt and pants, and was carrying a black and grey bookbag.
His family described him as being in good physical and mental health, which made his sudden and unexpected disappearance all the more alarming for them. When he did not return home or make contact, his loved ones grew deeply concerned and reported him missing.
In the wake of his disappearance, the New York City Police Department's Missing Persons Squad launched an investigation. Authorities conducted searches in the Bronx and surrounding areas and spoke with his family, friends, and neighbors, hoping to piece together the events leading up to his disappearance.
