In early 1983, Eileen Jay, a 27-year-old resident of Norwalk, Connecticut, found herself in a difficult period of her life. Having recently lost her job, she was understandably feeling depressed. Seeking a change of scenery and perhaps some solace, she made the decision to travel to New York City.
