In the summer of 1983, a young man named James Gerald Waltman disappeared from his home in Phenix City, Alabama, leaving behind a life that was in a state of transition. On the morning of July 28, 1983, the 22-year-old attended a significant personal event: his final divorce hearing in Columbus, Georgia.
