Clinton Washburn, a 29-year-old man from Peoria, Illinois, was last seen on March 15, 2003. Before his disappearance, Clinton had a phone conversation with his family that ended in a misunderstanding, which they later resolved. After that call, his family did not hear from him again. Months later, in September 2003, Clinton's family received a typed letter allegedly from him. The letter stated that he had met a wealthy woman, planned to marry her, and intended to change his name.
