In the late summer of 2020, the life of 36-year-old Kein Eastman took a devastating turn. On August 13th of that year, in East St. Louis, Illinois, Eastman was forcibly taken at gunpoint from his grandmother's home. The men behind this violent act, brothers Kenwyn and Kendrick Frazier, believed Eastman had stolen a piece of jeweled dental wear, commonly known as a "grillz," belonging to one of them. This accusation set in motion a tragic series of events that would lead to Eastman's disappearance. He was last seen wearing a Sacramento Kings #10 Bibby Jersey and black shorts.
The Frazier brothers drove Kein Eastman in a Dodge Durango to an apartment on Kansas Avenue in East St. Louis, where they demanded he find the missing dental grill. After a fruitless 90-minute search, the situation escalated dramatically. The brothers dragged Eastman out of the apartment, and despite his pleas and denials of having the item, Kendrick Frazier shot him. A Ring doorbell camera captured the harrowing moment, showing Eastman being shot in the head as he tried to escape. Witnesses reported seeing him bleeding from his face as he ran from the apartment complex. The Frazier brothers were then seen pursuing him in the same Dodge Durango. Tragically, Kein Eastman has not been seen or heard from by his family or law enforcement since that day.
The investigation into Eastman's disappearance led by the Illinois State Police and the East St. Louis Police Department quickly identified the Frazier brothers as the primary suspects. Approximately two hours after the shooting, the Dodge Durango used in the kidnapping was discovered engulfed in flames, completely burned to its frame, destroying any potential evidence. In December 2020, arrest warrants were issued for Kendrick and Kenwyn Frazier, and they were apprehended by U.S. Marshals in January 2021. Another individual, Jasmine Crawford, was charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly tampering with the Ring doorbell camera that recorded parts of the crime. In November 2022, a federal jury found both Frazier brothers guilty of kidnapping. Subsequently, in August 2023, Kenwyn Frazier was sentenced to 365 months in prison, and Kendrick Frazier received a sentence of 396 months. Despite the convictions and lengthy prison sentences for his kidnappers, Kein Eastman's whereabouts remain unknown, and his case represents a painful and unresolved loss for his loved ones.
