Joshua Louis Wayne Amos, a 32-year-old father of two young daughters, vanished in the early morning hours of March 19, 2023. Originally from Caseyville, Illinois, he was living in Granite City at the time and had recently started a new job. On the night of his disappearance, he and three friends went to Scarlett's Cabaret in Washington Park, Illinois. For reasons that remain unclear, he left his cell phone at a friend's house where they had gathered before going out. Surveillance footage captured him leaving the club alone at approximately 4:58 a.m. and walking through the parking lot. When one of his friends went to look for him, he was nowhere to be found. His family, deeply concerned when he did not return home and could not be contacted, filed a missing person's report.
Following his departure from the club, Joshua was seen at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center MetroLINK station in East St. Louis. A bus driver who encountered him there described him as looking cold and disoriented, mentioning that he needed to get to his home in Granite City. The driver assisted him in purchasing a bus pass to the Emerson Park Station. Surveillance cameras at Emerson Park recorded him waiting for a train around 6:45 a.m., but he did not board it when it arrived. The last confirmed sighting of Joshua was at 7:28 a.m., on surveillance footage from Ee-Jay Motor Transports on Lincoln Avenue in East St. Louis, a short walk from the train station. The video showed him walking alone through the parking lot. Since that moment, there has been no activity on his bank accounts or credit cards, and no one has reported hearing from him.
The investigation into Joshua's disappearance has been extensive, involving searches by Illinois State Police, family, and friends. Search parties, including K-9 units, have scoured the area where he was last seen, a location with many abandoned buildings and warehouses. Despite these efforts, which have included foot searches and drone flyovers, no significant leads have been developed. His family describes him as a kind, loyal, and dependable man who would not intentionally lose contact with his loved ones, especially his daughters. At the time of his disappearance, Joshua was wearing blue jeans, a light grey long-sleeve crew neck shirt, and all-black Adidas tennis shoes. He is described as a white male, 5'11' tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has several distinct tattoos, including his daughters' names, 'Bella' and 'Mia,' on his chest, a cross on his left bicep, and a Chinese symbol on his right bicep. The circumstances surrounding his case remain a mystery, with no evidence of foul play discovered by police. His case continues to be classified as a missing person, leaving his family with unanswered questions and an aching void.
