In the fall of 2020, the community of Oneida, Kentucky, was struck with the unsettling disappearance of 49-year-old David Campbell. Several articles of clothing were also found in the vicinity of the remains. The following morning, the search of the area continued to ensure that all possible evidence was recovered.
The location of the remains, being so close to David Campbell's last known whereabouts, immediately led investigators to suspect they might belong to him. However, visual identification was not possible, and the remains were sent for DNA analysis in collaboration with the Kentucky State Police to confirm their identity. The community and David's family were once again left waiting, this time for the definitive results that could finally bring them some measure of closure. The Clay County Coroner, Jason Abner, delivered the confirmation to David's cousin, Mark Hoskins, bringing an end to the years of not knowing what had happened to their loved one.
