George William Hawkins, a 46-year-old constable and general store owner from Persimmon Grove, Kentucky, disappeared on April 3, 1961. On the morning he went missing, he prepared breakfast for his daughter before she left for work. He then departed in his tan 1959 Plymouth Fury station wagon. At approximately 1:00 p.m., Hawkins called his wife, informing her that he had met with his attorney regarding an upcoming IRS audit and was on his way home.
