In the early spring of 2022, a 47-year-old man named Manuel Joseph Bayya, known to his loved ones as Manny, vanished from the Elmira area in Lane County, Oregon. A citizen of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, Manuel was last seen around March 7th of that year. He was a father and was known for his love of riding his red sport-bike motorcycle, which disappeared with him. His disappearance left his family with a profound sense of loss and a growing list of unanswered questions. In the years following Manuel's disappearance, his family has been relentless in their search for answers. His sister, Lacy Murillo, and his daughter, Shaā Bayya, have become powerful advocates, organizing rallies and marches to keep his name in the public consciousness and to shed light on the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People. On the fourth anniversary of his disappearance, family, friends, and community members gathered in Eugene, marching to the Lane County Sheriff's Department to honor him and demand action. His family has voiced concerns that Manuel's case has not received the serious attention it deserves from law enforcement, possibly due to his past criminal record. Despite these fears, they continue to hope that someone will come forward with information that could help bring him home. Manuel Bayya is described as a Native American male, standing 5'10" and weighing approximately 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has several distinct tattoos, including a half sleeve with a scary clown face on his upper left arm and an elk on the right side of his lower back. He was known to frequent both Lane and Lincoln counties. The Lane County Sheriff's Office continues to seek tips from the public regarding his whereabouts. The case of Manuel Bayya remains an open and troubling mystery. The simultaneous vanishing of both a man and his motorcycle from a rural Oregon community has left his family and investigators searching for clues. His loved ones remember his smile that could light up a room and continue their fight for answers, holding onto the hope of one day finding closure.
