Sofia Abigail Caballero Huete, a 3-year-old girl from Nicaragua, disappeared on May 17, 2022, while attempting to cross the Río Bravo with her mother, Irma Yaritza Huete Iglesias. The family was trying to reach the United States when the tragedy occurred. While crossing the river near Rio Bravo, Texas, Irma drowned, and her body was recovered the next day.
