In the summer of 2022, concern grew for the well-being of 63-year-old Rick Lewis, a resident of Reno, Nevada. A decade prior, Rick had suffered a traumatic brain injury, an event that had lasting effects on him. In the time leading up to his disappearance, he had been experiencing suicidal thoughts and had expressed to his family on multiple occasions a desire to go 'into the mountains where no one will find him.'
