On the morning of November 28, 2022, 42-year-old Demetria Daughtry Watson disappeared from her home in Richmond Hill, Georgia. The day began as any other for the Watson family. Demetria's husband, Harvey, left for work after their children had departed for school, leaving his wife asleep in bed. However, the morning took an alarming turn when Harvey and other family members received unusual text messages from Demetria simply stating, 'I love you.' This out-of-character
communication prompted her husband to rush back home, but by the time he arrived at 9:35 a.m., Demetria and her gray 2019 Toyota Corolla were gone. She had left all of her personal belongings behind, suggesting her departure was not planned.
Surveillance footage captured Demetria leaving her residence at approximately 9:30 a.m. in her four-door Toyota Corolla with Georgia license plate PXK6484. Her vehicle was reportedly tracked to the Pooler Parkway area before it was last seen entering Richmond Hill, creating some confusion about her direction of travel. In the wake of her disappearance, the Richmond Hill Police Department launched an extensive investigation, conducting searches of wooded areas and waterways. Authorities utilized search warrants and phone records to trace her digital footprint. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has also been assisting with the case. Despite these efforts, and numerous searches of local rivers by specialized dive teams which located several submerged vehicles, none were identified as belonging to Demetria.
Demetria is described as a Black female with fair skin, standing 5'4' tall and weighing around 118 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She has a mole on her left earlobe and another on her chest and neck region. On the day she went missing, she was wearing a tan sweater jacket, blue pants, black and red tennis shoes with a white sole, and eyeglasses, with her hair in a ponytail. The community has rallied around the Watson family, holding vigils and using social media to keep her story in the public eye. A GoFundMe campaign was also established to raise a reward for information that could lead to her whereabouts.
