John Albert Barnes, a 58-year-old British citizen, spent Thanksgiving Day of 1982 with his daughter in Wheeling, Illinois. Born in Rotherham, England, he had lived an international life, residing in Canada, Australia, and the United States after serving in the air force division of the British Navy. At the time he went missing, he was described as being between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing around 145 to 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
