Summary based on 1 source
In the spring of 1982, a young woman named Robin Lee Rolland, just 18 years old, vanished from the sunny city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The last time she was seen was on May 1, 1982, on North Rio Vista Boulevard. The final known conversation she had was a brief and troubled one with her sister. During their talk, an angry Robin declared she was moving away to Alaska. At the time of her disappearance, Robin's life was somewhat unsettled; she had left her home and was staying with various family members. After that last exchange with her sister, Robin's whereabouts became unknown, leaving her family with unanswered questions.

A little over a month after Robin was last seen, a grim discovery was made in a canal in Deerfield Beach, Florida, on June 20, 1982. The body of an adolescent or young woman was found floating in the water. An autopsy revealed that she had been the victim of a homicide, with the cause of death being asphyxiation. This unidentified individual, who became known as Broward County Jane Doe, was estimated to be between 11 and 20 years old. Due to the state of decomposition, her hair and eye color could not be determined. The Jane Doe had a healed fracture of a vertebra in her mid-back, which could have resulted from a fall, a car accident, or a direct blow. It was also noted that she was likely a smoker.

The proximity in time and location between Robin's disappearance and the discovery of the Jane Doe led to speculation about a possible connection. There were some similarities in their physical descriptions. Robin was described as being between 5'5" and 5'7" tall with brown hair and hazel eyes. The Jane Doe's height was estimated to be between 5'2" and 5'6". However, there was a significant discrepancy in weight, with Robin weighing between 115 and 130 pounds and the Jane Doe estimated to be between 75 and 80 pounds. Despite the possibility of weight change, this difference remains a notable point of contention. To date, there has been no official confirmation linking the two cases, and Robin Lee Rolland remains a missing person. The investigation into her disappearance is handled by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, and her case continues to be a source of sorrow and uncertainty.

Last Seen: May 1, 1982
