In the autumn of 1996, 62-year-old Jaime Morey Wyatt traveled from his home in Newfoundland to Halifax, Nova Scotia, in search of employment. He settled into the Twin Elms Motel on Inglis Street, his stay paid for until November 17, the day he was expected to return to Newfoundland. On the evening of Saturday, November 16, 1996, Mr. Wyatt spoke with a motel employee, mentioning he was going to be picked up for a dinner party and other evening functions.
