In the small community of Seeley's Bay, Ontario, the winter of 2003 brought with it a quiet mystery that continues to linger. It was in February of that year that Frederick Allan Takerer, a 64-year-old man known to friends and family as Fred, was last seen. Frederick was a man who faced daily challenges due to physical limitations that made getting around difficult, often requiring the use of a cane. Standing at five feet, seven inches tall with a medium build, he had blue eyes, often behind a pair of gold-rimmed prescription glasses, and brown and grey hair that he wore short with a beard and moustache. His disappearance would leave a void in the lives of his loved ones and a perplexing case for investigators. The last confirmed sighting of Frederick Takerer was on February 20, 2003. Just three days later, on February 23, his son, unable to make contact with him, reported him missing to the authorities. At the time he vanished, it is believed he was wearing a green coat, blue denim pants, and sneakers. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance were immediately concerning to law enforcement. For a man who could not move around easily to simply vanish without a trace was highly unusual, leading police to suspect that his disappearance was suspicious in nature. The search began, but the days turned into weeks, and then years, with no sign of Frederick. The investigation into what happened to Frederick Takerer has remained open over the years, yet he has never been located, and the questions surrounding that February day persist. The Ontario Provincial Police have continued to seek information from the public, hoping for a lead that might bring closure to his family. A significant reward of $50,000 has been offered for information that could resolve the case. The case remains a troubling one: a man with significant physical challenges disappeared from his community under circumstances that police believe to be suspicious. His family has been left in a state of uncertainty, holding out hope for answers in the long and painful absence of their loved one.
