Having immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, in 1987, Christine took a leave of absence from her job in June 2003 to travel. In her last communication, she emailed friends and family, mentioning she had met a 60-year-old British man and planned to go on a "leaf peeping" tour with him for about a week before returning to Canada for work.
