Reina Morales-Rojas, a 41-year-old woman from East Boston, Massachusetts, has been missing since November 26, 2022. Originally from El Salvador, she had arrived in the U.S. just months before, in May 2022. Morales-Rojas was last seen getting into a silver van in East Boston and was later dropped off on Allston Street in Somerville. She was carrying two cell phones, both of which were powered off shortly after midnight on November 27.
Reina was undocumented and had moved to Boston with hopes of bringing her two teenage children to join her from El Salvador. Prior to her disappearance, she worked packing food for an airline at Logan Airport. Concerns about her safety grew after family members revealed that she had experienced threats and violence from a man she had met in the U.S. Her family strongly believes she would never have willingly abandoned them and suspects foul play.
Despite immediate efforts from the family, authorities delayed publicly announcing her disappearance until January 2023, leading to public outcry. The case has garnered attention from Boston city councilors, who have criticized the slow response and accused authorities of neglecting cases involving women of color and immigrants.
Her whereabouts remain unknown, and the investigation continues, with law enforcement urging anyone with information to come forward.
